The Pinto Ranch

Editor's note: Finally! A working high-speed connection!!

In Paradise Valley, about 40 miles north of the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, is a place called the Pinto Ranch. For folks in Region 9, this is where Bill's dog "Montana Night Sky" was born. We stayed for 2 days at the ranch. Kendra put us into a large (many acres) fully fenced field.

What a treat to be able to let the doggies run around as much as they liked! Here is a picture of Sweep and Wyn in the field.

We brought dinner for the first night at the ranch. Carolina BBQ with Coleslaw (of course), CurlySue's Cornbread Casserole (pg 21 of the flyball cookbook) and for dessert, Georgia Pecan Pie (courtesy of Ditto's mom in Atlanta). We even taught them to put the "slaw" on top of the BBQ;-) The "blue ribbon" pie was such a hit that we have been asked if Ditto's mom will take orders and ship it across the country. I also heard that her mom gives out pies at Christmas time to her friends and I'm wondering why I haven't received one yet! Hahahhaa!

We took this fabulous opportunity to spend 2 days at Yellowstone. Wow. What an incredible place. I took so many photos and video it was nearly impossible to decide which one to post. We also had a closeup experience with a Bison that decided to cross the road right as we were slowly driving past. The video tells the tale! We saw a variety of wildlife including Bison, Elk, Antelope (Pronghorn), Mule Deer, White tailed Deer and a Moose.

Kendra treated us to dinner on the 2nd night, and in true Montana style we had Antelope and Venison. I had never tried either before and they are both delicious.

Here is a photo of Ditto, Bill and Kendra. On our last morning at the ranch, we tried each of the border collies on the sheep. The dogs thought that was the best time of all, and we could tell that they never wanted to leave, and nor did we. But we had to move on, there is a tournament in Alaska that we have to get to!
