Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park

We knew when we decided to visit Glacier, that there was a possibility that the roads would not yet be open. We were sooooo lucky! They had opened 1/2 of the "Going to the Sun Road", and so we were able to drive the little RV (yay) from St. Mary's to Logan Pass. It was really awesome, we saw our first glaciers of the trip! We took a short hike through Sunrift Gorge to see Baring Falls. The 1/2 mile walk was really worthwhile to stand at the bottom of the falls.


Apparently it had been raining in that area for 3 days, but we were really fortunate as the sun came out for our morning trip up to Logan's Pass. Bill took a photo of Sweep, Wyn and I standing on the snow, but we couldn't convince Ditto to come anywhere near it. Fellow Canadians and northern US'ers will understand what I mean by "spring euphoria", that feeling you get in the early spring when the snow along the roads is slushy, the sun is brilliantly shining but the air still feels crisp. That was the feeling at Logan's Pass.

On our way back from Logan's Pass, we were lucky enough to see a group of Bighorn sheep!
