Banff to Jasper

We spent a day driving through the Canadian National Parks from Banff to Jasper, and spent the night in Hinton, AB, just outside the east entrance to Jasper. These parks are wonderful. I thought the man-made "animal overpasses" (oh how I wish I could get a high speed connection and post pictures!) were really cool. They built 24 of these special overpasses that the animals use to get over the highway. They have sod/shrubs/vegetation and the animals use them because the rest of the road is fenced! What a great idea!

We stopped at Lake Louise of course. All of the lakes are beautiful and this one is clearly no exception. We saw a couple from Wisconsin walking a border collie. They are also heading towards Alaska and are now planning to stop in Palmer to watch a flyball tournament!

We continued along the most beautiful scenic highway, and saw many glaciers. The name of the road is the Icefield Parkway and they are not kidding. The Icefield Visitor center is surrounded by them and if you have time, you can even take a cool bus thingy and go right onto a glacier!
